The Cervélo Story

Cervélo started in the mid-1990s with two engineering students, Phil White and Gérard Vroomen,who shared an obsession with speed. At the time, most bikes were built around tradition; Cervélo was built around innovation. From a small workshop in Toronto, they began rethinking how aerodynamics and carbon design could work together to make bikes faster, lighter, and more efficient.

Their first creation was a radical time-trial frame designed purely around aerodynamics — something few brands dared to do. That same focus soon shaped the P-Series, which went on to dominate triathlon and time-trial racing worldwide. Then came the R-Series and S-Series, pushing the limits of lightweight climbing and aerodynamic road performance.

Over the years, Cervélo has stayed true to its engineering roots. Every frame is tested, refined, and proven under some of the most demanding riders in the world — from Tour de France contenders to Ironman champions. What began as a university project became one of the most respected names in performance cycling.

Today, Cervélo continues to evolve, combining cutting-edge research with real-world feedback to build bikes that are as capable on the podium as they are on your local roads. It’s still the same mission that started it all: to make the fastest, most efficient bikes possible.
