Merida Mission Gravel Bike

Merida Mission Gravel Bike

The all-new Merida Mission is a gravel race bike built for speed. With a carbon CF4 frame, aerodynamic tube shaping, and aggressive geometry, it brings road-racing DNA to the gravel world — seamlessly bridging the gap between Merida’s endurance road bikes and its adventure-oriented gravel models.

Key Features

1. Race-Inspired Geometry & Speed

  • The Mission is designed around a race-focused geometry with sharper handling and a lively feel.

  • Short chainstays, a lower bottom bracket, and a more compact frame make it nimble and reactive under speed.

2. Where does it fit?

  • Despite being a gravel bike, the Mission keeps things sleek with a maximum 40 mm tyre clearance — enough for fast gravel tires yet slim enough to retain aerodynamic efficiency. Although Merida lists 40 mm as the maximum tyre width, early feedback suggests that 45 mm tyres fit with sufficient clearance. Once the bikes arrive, the 2 Wheels Only team will certainly put this to the test.

  • This approach is more conservative than many modern gravel bikes, but it’s intentional — Merida prioritises road-like responsiveness. This isn’t necessarily a negative. With UK roads often resembling gravel more than tarmac, we see a different kind of potential for this bike: the ultimate all-rounder. Let’s call it an ‘All-Road’ gravel rig.

With two sets of wheels, the Mission could easily serve as a fast, confident winter road bike, while still giving you the option to slot in a set of gravel wheels for those slightly more off-road adventures. It may be a bold statement, but in many situations this could be the go-to ‘do it all’ UK road bike — fast, versatile, and impressively capable.

We’re excited to see what this beauty can really do once initial stock arrives in early January 2026.

3. Lightweight & Aerodynamic Carbon Frame

  • Built on Merida’s CF4 carbon platform, the frame offers a low weight, stiff ride, and aerodynamic tube profiles.

  • Integrated cockpit (TEAM SL GR1P) merges the stem and handlebars into a seamless, aerodynamic and rigid unit.

4. Built for Flexibility and Performance

  • The frame supports both 1x and 2x drivetrains, giving riders flexibility to choose the gearing that best suits their racing or riding style.

  • It’s UDH-compatible, which means you can run mullet (road + MTB) setups or go full MTB if that’s your preference.

5. Smart Storage Integration

  • A built-in storage compartment (Merida’s G.U.T. system) is housed in the down tube, accessible via a secure Fidlock cover. Perfect for race essentials, tools, or nutrition all neatly stowed and rattle-free.

  • The storage bag is custom-shaped to minimize noise and movement, keeping everything tight even on rough terrain.

6. High-End Spec Options

  • The top-tier Mission 10K is equipped with a 13-speed SRAM Red XPLR AXS groupset, Zipp 303 XPLR SW wheels, and weighs in at an aggressive ~7.6–7.8 kg.

  • Other models include the Mission 9000 (SRAM Force XPLR), 7000 (Shimano GRX Di2), 6000 (Rival XPLR), and 4000 (Shimano GRX) — all built around the same CF4 carbon platform.

7. Cooling & Durability

  • The Mission’s design incorporates Merida’s disc-cooler technology for enhanced braking performance in grueling conditions.

  • Three water-bottle mounts give you flexibility for long rides or multi-surface adventures.

Why Choose the Mission?

  • Speed-first gravel: If you're chasing fast gravel races, or just like to ride aggressively on mixed surfaces, the Mission delivers the precision and acceleration of a road racer, but with real off-road capability.

  • Lightweight & agile: Carbon frame, sharp handling, and minimal tyre clearance mean you get a bike that climbs, corners, and darts like a champion. Use it for gravel, road or just tackling those gnarly country lanes with some big fat tyres.

  • Versatile gearing: Whether you prefer 1x simplicity or 2x range, the Mission’s frame gives you flexibility.

  • Integrated race storage: Everything you need for a gravel race — nutrition, spares, tools — fits cleanly inside without disrupting your ride.

  • Pro-level builds: From the Aero carbon cockpit to Zipp wheels and premium components, the higher-end models bring serious performance.
