Less noise on fast descents.
Shimano RT-CL900 Ice Tech rotors provide consistent braking performance through energy control, using a revolutionary stainless steel/alloy 3-layer sandwich construction that manages heat while riding. The clad steel/alloy/steel rotor construction allows heat generated from braking to radiate quickly through the aluminium core, achieving significant surface temperature drops. Freeza rotors allow the alloy core to extend out from the braking surface as a fin to provide added cooling.
Ice Tech rotors achieve long pad life, less noise, and less fade due to improved heat dispersion. These rotors are durable, lightweight, and rigid, using the proven Shimano Center Lock system for increased strength and security with an easy set-up. Precision-cut braking surfaces improve pad clearing in muddy conditions while aiding cooling under high load. The large alloy spider is a highly rigid and lightweight support for the rotor surface, while the super polished braking surface gives excellent braking performance.
The updated rotor design combines a more robust arm shape with heat-dissipating paint to improve cooling efficiency, helping maintain stable braking performance and reduce noise during repeated and sustained braking. This design reduces heat deformation under sustained braking to keep performance quiet and consistent, delivering smoother modulation and predictable lever feel for confident control on long, fast descents and tight corners.
