Aerodynamics
Designed from CFD and validated in the wind tunnel, the 42|49 was shaped to maximise aero efficiency while improving crosswind stability. Reserve’s wind-tunnel testing simulates real-world airflow to confirm performance targets, producing one of the most stable and aerodynamic wheelsets to date.
Strength and weight
Rim construction is optimised at Reserve’s Santa Cruz composites lab. Through careful carbon fibre layup work and a proprietary test protocol that mimics impacts and spoke pull-outs, each rim’s fibre orientation is defined to maximise stiffness and strength without unnecessary weight.
Practical design
Reserve keeps maintenance straightforward: external nipples and standard spokes for easy servicing, a semi-hooked design with no tyre limitations, and no rider weight limits. These choices make the 42|49 TA workmanlike and versatile for everyday riding and racing.
